About Jeffrey Böhm

I’m an independent IT consultant based in Germany, with over 15 years of experience across e-commerce, enterprise software and cloud infrastructure.

I started as a software engineer, moved into architecture and technical leadership, and have spent the last several years working as an independent consultant, advising organisations on technology decisions and leading implementations that actually ship.

Why independent?

Because honest advice and vendor interests don’t mix well. As an independent consultant I can tell a client when a platform is the wrong choice, when a project is too large to deliver as planned, or when the simpler solution is the better one. That’s harder to do when you’re selling something.

How I work

I favour written deliverables over slide decks, assessments, architecture decisions, and roadmaps that a team can act on without me in the room. I work in focused engagements: a defined scope, a clear output, a realistic timeline.

Background

My technical foundation is broad, from ERP systems and regulated environments (health insurance, government) to large-scale e-commerce (Shopware, Symfony), cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes, GitOps), and AI integration. I hold Shopware and Symfony developer certifications and am an Elasticsearch Engineer.

I’m also a maintainer of docker-mailserver, an open-source project with hundreds of active users worldwide.
